What to expect at your first Ayurvedic consultation in Dubai

If you have never seen an Ayurvedic doctor before, the first visit can feel like a mystery. This guide explains what actually happens at a consultation at our centre in Deira, so you can arrive prepared.

It is a medical appointment

An Ayurvedic consultation at a DHA-licensed centre is a doctor’s appointment, not a spa intake. The doctor holds a recognised Ayurvedic medical degree and is licensed to practise in Dubai. Expect questions, an examination and a written plan.

What the doctor will ask

Ayurveda looks at the whole person, so the questions go beyond your main complaint. Typical topics include:

• Your main concern, how long you have had it and what makes it better or worse
• Digestion, appetite and bowel habit
• Sleep quality and timing
• Energy through the day, stress and mood
• Diet, exercise and daily routine
• Existing diagnoses, medicines and supplements
• Menstrual and reproductive health, where relevant

The doctor will also check your pulse, look at your tongue and skin, and examine the area you are concerned about.

What to bring

• Emirates ID and insurance card
• Recent blood tests, scans or reports
• A list of the medicines and supplements you take

Avoid a heavy meal in the hour before the appointment. If you hope to have a therapy on the same day, wear comfortable clothing and allow an extra hour.

How long it takes

A first consultation at our centre takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Follow-up reviews are shorter.

What you leave with

You should leave with three things: an explanation of how the doctor understands your condition in Ayurvedic terms, a plan that may include therapies, medicines, diet and routine, and honest expectations about timing. If Ayurveda is not the right approach for your problem, a good doctor will say so.

A note on medicines

Do not stop any prescribed medication without your treating physician’s advice. Ayurvedic care runs alongside conventional treatment, and the doctor needs to know what you take so the plan is safe.
