Why hair falls
Ayurvedic treatment for hair fall in Dubai at Vaidika Ayurvedic Centre begins by asking why your hair is falling. Hard water, heat, air conditioning, stress, crash diets, illness, hormonal changes and the months after childbirth can all lead to shedding or thinning, and Ayurveda also looks at digestion, sleep and constitution. Our centre opposite Deira City Centre is opening soon, and every plan will be designed by a DHA-licensed Ayurvedic doctor after a consultation.
Hair and scalp concerns we help manage
- Hair fall and general thinning
- Dandruff and an itchy, flaky scalp
- Alopecia, including patchy hair loss and pattern thinning, alongside medical care
- Shedding after illness, stress, dieting or childbirth
- Dry, oily or irritated scalp
For acne, pigmentation and other skin concerns, see our page on skin and hair. If your scalp problem is linked to psoriasis or eczema, see psoriasis and eczema.
Your first consultation
Every treatment begins with a consultation with a DHA-licensed Ayurvedic doctor. It includes:
- a personalised physical assessment, including your scalp and the pattern of hair loss
- a Prakriti assessment of your constitution
- Nadi Pariksha, the traditional pulse examination
- lifestyle and dietary counselling, covering food, sleep, stress and hair-washing habits
Hair fall can be linked to medical conditions such as thyroid problems or low iron, so bring any recent blood reports. If none are available, the doctor may suggest you arrange tests through your GP.
How Ayurvedic treatment for hair fall in Dubai works
Depending on the cause, a plan may include:
- Shiro Abhyanga: medicated oil head massage, traditionally used to support scalp health
- Thalapothichil: a medicated herbal paste applied over the scalp and left for a set time
- Takradhara: medicated buttermilk poured over the forehead and scalp, traditionally used for dandruff, scalp irritation and stress-related hair fall
- Nasyam: medicated nasal drops, often included in Ayurvedic hair and scalp plans
- Internal Ayurvedic medicines prescribed by the doctor
- Diet advice to support nutrition and digestion
- Daily-routine advice, including sleep, stress and gentle hair care suited to Dubai’s water and climate
These therapies may help support scalp health and reduce shedding linked to stress, scalp conditions or lifestyle. Hair grows slowly and responds differently from person to person, so the doctor will explain what is realistic at the start.
Working alongside your medical care
Ayurvedic care at Vaidika works alongside your existing medical care. Please do not stop prescribed medicines or scalp treatments, and tell the Ayurvedic doctor what you use. If you think a medicine is causing hair loss, speak to the doctor who prescribed it rather than stopping it yourself.
When to see a doctor urgently
See a medical doctor promptly, rather than waiting for Ayurvedic care, if you have:
- a red, painful or swollen scalp, pus, or fever
- sudden patchy hair loss with scarring, burning or tenderness of the scalp
- hair loss together with unexplained weight loss, palpitations, extreme tiredness or fever
- sudden heavy shedding after starting a new medicine
What a programme looks like
Scalp therapy programmes commonly run for 7, 14 or 21 days, with sessions of 45 to 90 minutes, followed by medicines and home scalp care with regular doctor reviews. From opening day, sessions run 10:00 to 22:00, seven days a week.
The centre is opposite Deira City Centre, about two minutes from Deira City Centre Metro (Red Line). Some UAE insurance plans cover Ayurvedic care, and we check cover with your insurer before treatment begins. Request an appointment or message us on WhatsApp, and bring photographs of how your hair has changed if you have them.

Questions about hair fall
Can Ayurveda help with hair fall?
Ayurvedic scalp therapies, medicines and diet are traditionally used in the management of hair fall and may help support scalp health. Hair fall has many causes, so the doctor first looks for the likely reason. We do not promise regrowth.
What is Thalapothichil?
Thalapothichil is a therapy in which a medicated herbal paste is applied over the scalp and left for a set time before being washed off. It is traditionally used for scalp conditions and is often combined with Shiro Abhyanga.
Can Ayurveda help with alopecia?
Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata) and pattern thinning have different causes. Ayurvedic care may support scalp health alongside your medical care, and the doctor will be clear about what is realistic. New patchy hair loss should also be checked by your GP.
Does Dubai's water cause hair fall?
Many people notice more hair fall after moving to the UAE. Hard water, heat, air conditioning, stress and diet can all play a part. The doctor will give you practical washing and scalp-care advice along with your plan.
How long before I see a change?
Hair grows slowly, so changes usually take months rather than weeks. A therapy course commonly runs 7, 14 or 21 days, followed by medicines and home scalp care with doctor reviews.
Is treatment covered by insurance?
Some UAE insurance plans cover Ayurvedic care. We check cover with your insurer before treatment begins.
